Surgeon's visit

I went for my check at the surgeons office today. I was a little nerveous at first since it was my first time driving to downtown Atlanta, but I had nothing to worry about it was uneventful.
Well can I have a drumroll please!!!.........................................................
I have officially lost 61 pounds, and I am way under 300lbs. I am so excited!!

Its my Birthday!!

Today is my 48th birthday.
I am so great full to make it to this day. The months of August and September have been hard, but I have made it through.

I have hit my first plateau in this journey, but I keep reminding myself that I will get pass this just as I have August and September. I am so close to being less than 300 lbs I can test it.

I am great full to be on this earth and I am great full to have had this surgery.

Less of me.

This is me, well a little less of me.
I had WLS on 7/21/09 as of the the 4th of September I have loss 47 lbs.
Yes I said 47 lbs. I cant believe it. But its the real real thing.

I cant say I have done this with out complication, because I had some complication. However, if you ask me would I do it again I would tell you in a heart beat. Even with the complications!

Two weeks after surgery I came down with gout, not just in one foot but in both feet. I started getting over that (well you never really get over gout you just learn to live with it) when after I went back to work for seven days, I had to call 911 to be rushed to the hospital. I was very short of breath and wheezy. The EMS said I had a wet lung. What a scary ride it was to the hospital, when EMS arrived they checked my o2 and gave me oxygen right away, got me in the ambulance and gave me baby aspirin, nitro tabs, and started an IV. I was laying there thinking am I having a heart attack, then I was saying to myself, no I cant be I don't feel like I am, but of course I don't know what a heart attack feels like. Anyhow, I get to the hospital ER room, they took blood, run test, x-rays, ct scans, etc.... In the end I found out I had blood clots in both lungs and in my leg. Talk about being scared!!

I am happy to say after being in the hospital for 5 days and two weeks with my cousin I am doing so much better. I doesn't take long for me to be come winded, but I push on. I have been riding a recumbent bike daily (mostly twice a day) and taking walks outside. I will be going to my house tomorrow and returning to work part time soon.

I must say going home will be scary, but it is what I must do. I must take care of myself.
